I am an environmental microbiologist, and my research focuses on microbial diversity and adaptation in some of the harshest environments on Earth, considered potential analogs for habitable zones on extraterrestrial bodies. I study microbial communities in previously unexplored analog environments and the strategies that these microbes use to survive and grow in these extreme systems. I have conducted field work in some of the most extreme environments on Earth to address questions in a variety of fields such as biogeography, community ecology, genomics and Astrobiology. In my free time I love to travel, scuba dive, hike and reading science! |
